On June 2, local time in Sweden, Volvo Cars announced the global sales data of the group in May. Netcom learned from the official that in the past May, Volvo Car sold 47,247 new cars worldwide. As the second domestic market, China completed sales of 9,779 units last month, an increase of nearly 40% year-on-year. The growth rate continues to lead the world's major markets.

Global sales are expected to hit new highs

In May, Volvo's three major regions achieved sales growth year-on-year. A total of 47,247 new cars were sold worldwide, an increase of 12.2% compared with 42,107 vehicles in the same period in 2016. In the first five months of the review, Volvo's global sales reached 223,290 units, up 8.9% from 205,132 units in 2016. According to this momentum, Volvo is very likely to refresh its annual sales record again this year.

It is worth mentioning that the Americas and the US market have achieved year-on-year growth for two consecutive months after the “weakness” in the first quarter of this year. Although the cumulative sales in the first five months are still less than the same period last year, the new generation XC60 has begun to accept reservations in the United States. This year, new cars will arrive at dealers in the fall. I believe this new car will definitely drive Volvo's overall sales in the United States.

Leading the world in China

Among the three major regions, the Asia-Pacific region and the Chinese market are undoubtedly the strongest performers. Volvo sold 9,779 new cars in China last month, a significant increase of 38.8% compared with 7,045 in the same period in 2016. This is also the third consecutive month that Volvo has achieved growth in China for the second consecutive month since its entry into 2017. In the first five months, Volvo's cumulative sales in China reached 41,801 units, compared with 32,961 units in the same period last year, a surge of 26.8%.
