It was learned from the Wuxi Sinoma Quartz Industry Research Institute that after more than three years of hard work, the research and development of quartz sand purified the second-generation thermal chlorination equipment into production. Compared with the first-generation thermal chlorination technology, the innovative device has a greater degree of automation, the product has a single machining capacity and low energy consumption.

The capacity of a single thermal chlorination unit is between 70 and 120 kg/h, and the power consumption is between 90 and 110 kWh. Compared with the first-generation technology, the device's production capacity has increased four-fold, the total energy consumption is only 1/3 of the original; the purity is higher than 99.998%, and the cumulative content of 13 metals is stable at 16ppm to 17ppm, reaching the international advanced level. In addition, the device also has a large production flexibility, and can still produce qualified products in the case of 15% fluctuation in the material quality of the preceding stage.

The technical staff of the institute told the reporter that the current domestic photovoltaic industry is experiencing a downturn, the relationship between supply and demand is out of balance, and prices have continued to fall. Price pressure has been fully affected by the high-purity quartz sand industry for photovoltaic accessories. The improved product quality, cost reduction and energy saving brought by the technical advancement of the device will help the companies in the industry achieve product upgrades.

It is also understood that the Institute is currently conducting research on the third-generation hot chlorination equipment. The purity of laboratory products has reached 99.999%, which is equivalent to the UNITA IOTA 6 standard. If the R&D equipment is industrialized, the high-purity quartz sand developed by China can fully meet the needs of the photovoltaic and electronics industries and completely break foreign monopolies.
